PLANT-A-ROW in Greater Harrisburg

The Plant-a-Row program continues to feed hungry with local produce.

In conjunction with George Weigel of the Food Writers' Association of America, both private gardens and educational projects have contributed to the crop of local good will. During the 2007 harvest Channels' drivers picked up 4,181 pounds of apples, corn, tomatoes, beans and peppers from our drop-off sites.

The following are photos from the Mechanicsburg Area Environmental Club Green Team, 5th Graders led by Paul Garrett.

Got it! But it's a weird shape! In fact, this tomato will be just as good and sweet as any perfectly round.

Found another one -- on the ground. It's dirty. Does that mean we can't eat it? Of course NOT! A little washing off will do the trick.
